The Bundle! |
Stampin' Up!'s Piece of Cake Bundle was a hot seller when it was released in
January, so hot in fact, it was out of stock before I could order it!
Well, it's back in stock and it showed up on my doorstep this past
week!!! This weekend I had so much fun experimenting with the cakes,
texture, and of course...color!!!! The punch is fantastic, I stamped
rows of cakes and rows of cake stands, to minimize waste, I cut the
stamped paper in strips so that I only punched stands or cakes.
Jar of Love, one of the stamp sets on my All Time Favorite Sets, was the source of the branch for my background stamp on the card above. |
Production! I always color first and then punch! |
I used Stampin' Blends to color, such great color combinations! |
Highland Heather and Pool Party! To get the background I stamped Highland Heather ink onto the Dot to Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder before rolling it through the Big Shot, such a simple trick with big impact! |
Shaded Spruce and Bermuda Bay...very sharp in person! The vertical texture is achieved using the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. |
Flirty Flamingo and Bermuda Bay, I used Shimmer Paint to highlight the cake drizzle, harder to see in the photo, but a nice touch in person. |
Balmy Blue and Mango Melody and the Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder! Bright and Cheery!!! |
Color decisions along the way... |
I used a dauber to stamp some interest onto my lower layer... this is Mint Macaron Paper AND Mint Macaron ink. This technique, tone on tone, is a great way to create your own Designer Series Paper (DSP)!!! |

Putting it all together... |
I popped up both the cake and stand using diminsionals. I left extra paper on the topper when I fussy cut the candles to make sure I could adhere it to the cake. For this task, Tombo Glue or Snail will work well. |
The finished product, with Daffodil Delight and Mint Macron. |
This is a great set, I'll use it for birthday cards, anniversary cards, and celebratory cards. I know for sure the punch is carrying over to the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, but I don't know about the stamp set. After working on these cards, I have officially added Piece of Cake to my All Time Favorites List!
